Reckless Driver Causes Accident That Injures Pedestrian

A driver who ran a red light hit another car and ultimately struck a teen on the sidewalk on Jenkintown Road near Abington Avenue. The Abington Township Police Department took two people into custody after the accident, accusing them of reckless driving.  The 13-year-old girl was on the sidewalk talking to a crossing guard at the time of the accident.

According to reports, the crash occurred before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Jenkintown Road and Abington Avenue. A 21-year-old man was driving recklessly at a high rate of speed. He failed to stop at a red light and crashed into a vehicle that was passing through the intersection legally on a green light. He then drove onto the sidewalk and struck the girl.
