While the Super Bowl may be a reason to celebrate in some areas, it can also be dangerous to travel on the roadways after it. Police reported that at least two serious accidents occurred in Delaware County the night of the Super Bowl. One occurred at the 300 block of East Manoa Road in Haverford Township. The vehicle went off the road and struck bushes, trapping the driver. Crews had to remove the doors and roof and displace the dashboard to extract the driver.
Another accident occurred on Northbound I-95 at mile marker 5.5 in Chester. Police indicated a Maserati and a Tesla were involved in a collision, but very little information was provided about what happened. Several people were taken to the hospital in this accident, but no word about their condition was provided.
Celebrations Can Turn Deadly
In these situations, there is a high risk of fatigue, impairment, or reckless driving as potential causes for accidents. While we cannot say for sure what occurred in these specific situations, we know that celebrations like this can lead to accidents. If drivers are impaired or distracted in any way, it may be challenging for them to react to changing road conditions, leading to fatal accidents.
