Egg Harbor Township Police and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 12 AM Wednesday morning to the area of the Black Horse Pike and Oak Tree Drive, in front of the Walmart, for the report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
A 2015 Honda CRV was traveling east on the Black Horse Pike when it struck a man walking on the roadway. The victim, identified as a 78-year-old from Pleasantville, died of his injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.
The driver of the Honda CRV and his passenger were evaluated at the scene and then transported for precautionary measures to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. The road was closed for close to three hours as the police conducted their investigation and the scene was cleaned up.
