The Philadelphia Police Department and Philadelphia Fire Department responded shortly after 1 AM Sunday morning to the 2000 block of Cecil B. Moore for the report of a serious crash. Emergency personnel arrived to find multiple vehicles heavily damaged in what was described as a chain-reaction crash.

Police were already in the vicinity when the dispatch went out for the wreck and were on scene quickly. However, they were unable to apprehend the driver or the passenger of the vehicle that caused the wreck, a stolen Honda, as both fled the scene on foot.
