Details About the Fatal Chain-Reaction Crash
The Philadelphia Police Department and Philadelphia Fire Department responded shortly after 1 AM Sunday morning to the 2000 block of Cecil B. Moore for the report of a serious crash. Emergency personnel arrived to find multiple vehicles heavily damaged in what was described as a chain-reaction crash.
Police were already in the vicinity when the dispatch went out for the wreck and were on scene quickly. However, they were unable to apprehend the driver or the passenger of the vehicle that caused the wreck, a stolen Honda, as both fled the scene on foot.
The stolen Honda plowed into a Chevy, which then hit a third vehicle after spinning. A 36-year-old inside the Chevy was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
