Icy Conditions Blamed for Middletown Township Crash

When roadways are slick, as they often are in Pennsylvania during the winter months, it is not uncommon for accidents to happen. On a Sunday evening, such an accident turned tragic in Middletown Township. Officers were called out to Brownsville Road at South Buckthorne Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. for a single-car accident. They found a Hyundai Elantra damaged and an unresponsive driver. Local residents were trying to provide CPR at the time of police arrival.

Car accidents involving a single car are often related to one or more causes, such as a medical emergency, distraction, intoxication, or falling asleep at the wheel. Investigations will provide better insight into what occurred.

Snowstorm a Contributing Factor

Though police have not outright stated that the person’s death was due to a crash due to weather conditions, a snowstorm is likely to have been a contributing factor. The driver collided with a raised berm as it was traveling along the eastbound lane of Brownsville Road. The efforts by locals to resuscitate the driver were unsuccessful, and they were pronounced dead at the hospital.
