Pedestrian Killed Attempting to Cross 95 in South Philadelphia

A person crossing I-95 Southbound near the Philadelphia International Airport was struck and killed, according to news reports. The accident occurred at the 12.3-mile marker at about 4 p.m. Limited information was initially available, but after investigation, State Troopers believe the woman was trying to cross I-95 from the right side of the road to the left. That is when a black Chevrolet van hit her.

The accident is a testament to the dangers of the interstate. It is not clear why she was walking into the roadway. Determining fault in a case like this can be very difficult, even in the best situation. Yet, without legal representation from a Philadelphia pedestrian accident lawyer, it may be hard for the victim’s family to get insight into what really occurred.

Two Vehicles Struck Her

According to the investigation work of the State Troopers, the Chevrolet van struck the woman in the far left lane, which threw her into the middle lane of traffic. That put her in the direct path of a Chevrolet Express van. That van driver drove over the top of her, but it did not seem that the van had hit her prior. The road from Exit 14 to Exit 9 was closed for several hours.
