Woman Dies After Being Struck

According to the Philadelphia police department, a crash occurred at about 9:30 pm in the evening. A 48-year-old woman was attempting to cross the road on a scooter when she was struck. The paramedics and police found the woman lying in the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Academy Road unconscious at the time. They attempted to save her life, but she fell victim to her injuries a short time later.

The woman was said to have been traveling northbound on Frankford Avenue when she was struck. The driver of the Kia SUV that hit her was traveling southbound and made a left turn onto Academy Road when she struck the victim. The victim, who was using an electric or motorized scooter in which the rider stands up on it, was thrown from it with the impact. The 20-year-old SUV driver stayed at the scene and did not have any indications of impairment.
