While vaccines help many people, some vaccines hurt people, as well. For example, more than 64,000 people have reported adverse events after receiving the Gardasil vaccine, at least according to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) and Collective Evolution News.
Some of the injuries patients have suffered are so severe that young plaintiffs who received the vaccine when they were teenagers are starting to file lawsuits.
If you or your child experienced an adverse event after receiving the Gardasil vaccine, Kwartler Manus, LLC is here for you. We handle all sorts of mass torts and can help you recover valuable compensation.

Gardasil is a vaccine designed to prevent human papillomavirus (HPV), which is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States. HPV infections are difficult to detect and do not go away on their own. Later in life, HPV infections can lead to:
For years, Gardasil was hailed as a miracle vaccine, preventing all these ailments by preventing HPV in children and teens who were not yet sexually active. Even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to recommend the vaccine for all boys and girls at ages 11 and 12.
What public health agencies and Merck, the manufacturer of Gardasil, do not share, however, is the serious adverse events reported as a result of the HPV vaccine. Some children and teenagers who received the vaccine later experienced systemic autoimmune dysregulation and problems with their nervous system, including postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
Additionally, current studies suggest the vaccine may not be effective in preventing cervical cancer in women.
Our Philadelphia Gardasil attorneys are ready to help individuals who have been diagnosed with POTS or other autoimmune or nervous system problems after receiving the HPV vaccine.
Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, or POTS, is a condition that affects blood flow in the autonomic and sympathetic nervous system. Individuals with POTS experience symptoms when they stand up from a reclining position. These symptoms include lightheadedness, fainting, and an uncomfortable, rapid increase in heartbeat. In severe cases, POTS may affect the muscles in the legs and core body, thus leading to permanent physical disability.
POTS is just one adverse event that has been reported in association with Gardasil. From December 2014 through December 2017, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) received 7,224 reports. Approximately 3% of these reports were marked as “serious,” which means they resulted in:
Per complaints filed against Merck, Gardasil has more reported injuries than any other vaccine and the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) has paid out millions of dollars for injuries and deaths linked to the HPV vaccine.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the CDC have monitored Gardisil since its licensure in June 2005 and continue to monitor the vaccine’s safety today. In one important development, the FDA and CDC coauthored an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). The article tracked adverse events from June 2006 through December 2008 and described 12,424 reports of adverse events, including 772 serious events.
Merck had distributed 23 million doses of Gardasil at the time of the study. Adverse events included:
While rare, these adverse events are never acceptable. As of December 31, 2008, 32 deaths had been reported to VAERS.
VAERS is limited and many adverse events go unreported. If you or your child has experienced an adverse event after receiving, you should report it immediately.
You should also contact your healthcare provider and consider contacting an attorney.
Doctors only give you vaccines when they feel the benefits outweigh the risks. When manufacturers like Merck don’t give the public all the information, people get hurt. We want to help you recover compensation from Merck because we believe in holding these kinds of manufacturers accountable.
We also know how much a financial award can help with you or your child’s medical expenses and other costs. Our attorneys are available 24/7 to talk to you about your case. We have over 40 years of combined legal experience and we will see your case the whole way through. Further, we will not recover any compensation unless your claim is successful.
